Do you remember that episode of The Brady Bunch when Marcia had that big slumber party and the boys put itching powder in all the girls’ sleeping bags? Well this post is going to be like that, only less itchy. And less Brady. In fact, now that I think about it, this post won’t be like that at all because if those boys had put itching powder in my sleeping bag, they’d be finding Nair in their shampoo bottles. Oh yeah. None of this equal and opposite reaction stuff. Somebody pulls a stunt like that, they’d better be prepared to get it back tenfold. Then they’ll think twice before playing a crappy prank like that again, won’t they? Plus, their heads will be cold. So anyway, this is my pajama party. No boys allowed, no itching powder lurking, and definitely no Bradys. Just us girls hanging out, some pumpkin spice and eggnog lattes, and a Juicy Couture Charm Print Flannel PJ set.
I’m still kind of irked at Juicy for their hideous towel bags, but they’re slowly winning me over, first with this Queens Garden tote, and now with these super cozy pajamas. I have to admit, I’m a sucker for cute jammies. There are some nights, especially when it’s cold out, that it’s nice to stay in, pull on a pair of warm, fuzzy pajamas, make some hot cocoa—Mini marshmallows? Yes please!—and watch a movie or read a good book. Let’s be clear. Pajamas, Juicy Couture or otherwise, are for wearing at home, not in public. If you’ve ever had occasion to go to Wal-Mart at two in the morning, you’ll understand why I’m pointing that out. And if you haven’t, I’m sure you can find at least one example here. Anyway, once you get into these, you won’t want to go anywhere. They’re made from 100 percent cotton flannel, so they’ll be soft and warm. The pants have a wide leg, and the top buttons down the front. The top also has a left chest patch pocket. Um, why? Just what would you possibly need to carry in a pajama pocket? Oh, more mini marshmallows? Ok then. As you can see, these Juicy pajamas are pink. What you may not be able to see without magnification is the charms printed in gray are snowflakes, ice skates, hearts, presents, and Scottie dogs. The pajamas also come in cerise, which is red to you and me. Note, though, that the image from Zappos is a little oversaturated. They’re not this dark in real life, and are actually more of a pastel pink. And yeah, I probably could have fixed it if I were a Photoshop guru, but I’m not, so I’m just telling you. Have some more mini marshmallows and you’ll be fine. Cozy up to these jammies for $98 at Zappos.com.
Budget Saving Alternatives
Another reason I thought it might be fun to feature some pajamas is that we needed something to go with the cozy slippers I talked about a few weeks ago. Those UGG slippers would go perfectly with the Juicy Couture pajamas, and the Tamarac slippers in blue would match this Karen Neuburger Provence Girlfriend PJ set. Jammies don’t have to be pink to be girly. The Provence set is made from a gorgeous French blue floral print fabric. It’s a 60/40 cotton/polyester blend, so while they’re soft and warm, they’re also wrinkle resistant. The bottoms have an elastic waist and drawstring tie, while the top has a button closure, and a very feminine, lacy trim on the collar, cuff, and pocket. Again with the pocket. Seriously, what do you need to carry in a pajama pocket? Money? No, because I know you’re not going out in public in your jammies. A pen? Um, sure, if you’re that much of a nerd. Just be sure to use a pocket protector so your pen doesn’t leak all over your pretty pajamas. The Provence PJ set is also available in a pretty blue plaid, which also has the dainty lacy trim on the collar and pocket, but also has very feminine floral embroidery on the lapels and pocket, which you’ll appreciate up close. Still girly, even in plaid. Try them on for $74 from Zappos.com.
I’m sure you’ve seen Life is Good stuff around, right? Shirts, hats, mugs, bumper stickers, spare tire covers, the little stick man and his simple slogan are everywhere. So why not on pajamas, right? This is their Holiday Lounge Set. Now, before you get all uppity and say, “Holiday?! Can we not do Christmas stuff yet?!” I’d like to remind you that another holiday is coming up much sooner—Thanksgiving. And even before that was National Cupcake Day, which I’m still totally bummed I missed! Why is that not a Federally recognized holiday? Why didn’t we get the day off from work? Why isn’t there a postage stamp? Why wasn’t there someone giving out free cupcakes to celebrate this auspicious occasion? We may never know the answers to this, one of life’s mysteries. In the meantime, we can buy or bake our own yummy cupcakes, and then enjoy them while lounging in these cozy Life is Good pajamas. They’re 100 percent cotton. The bottoms are wide-legged for plenty of room to get comfy, and have an elastic waistband with a drawstring for good measure. The top is a crewneck pullover with long sleeves, and a screenprint heart in the middle of the chest, right where it should be. Except it’s green, just like the green hearts all over the pants. And this time, the storage pocket is in the pants, so I guess you can carry your wallet around the house if you need to. It won’t take as much of a hit with these pajamas since they’re only $61 at Zappos.com.
