UGG Turn Cuff Glove

This is a glove intervention. Let me guess. This winter, you’ve been wearing the same old gloves you’ve had for a while, right? Because maybe gloves aren’t something you really think about until you need them. You walk outside, realized how freaking cold it is, then go back inside and dig out that pair you put away last year and haven’t thought about since. By the time you see how worn, faded, or frayed they are from years of use, it’s too late. It’s either wear them or get frostbite. Later, you take them off, put them away, and forget about them until you need them again. It’s a vicious cycle, one I can’t let you continue. You don’t really want to walk around looking like a hobo in those worn out gloves, do you? You don’t want to put on a fabulous pea coat, a great pair of rain boots, and then have to hide your hands in the bright purple mittens your grandma gave you don’t match anything, and one of the thumbs is coming off, right? I’m here to help. Trade in the bright purple for a more neutral color, and something more stylish, like this UGG Turn Cuff Glove.

This color is called stout, which is a deep, rich brown that will go with just about anything in your closet, and pretty much any coat color. They’re made from genuine sheepskin, and are detailed with a rough seam. The shearling lining, because it’s a natural material, wicks moisture away from your skin, keeping your hands dry and warm. It’s also a great insulator. There’s no way your hands would be cold in these gloves. The one downside is that because they’re leather, they must be professionally cleaned, but it’s worth it to keep them looking their best for much longer than a ratty pair of mittens. They go for $145 Zappos.com. But hurry! They’re selling fast!

Budget Saving Alternatives

Ok, fine. Maybe those mittens have sentimental value because grandma knitted them for you, and you just can’t bring yourself to part with them. Fine. I get it. If they mean that much to you, stop wearing them out, and put them away somewhere. And don’t forget to throw a small cedar block in with them to keep bugs out, and keep them smelling fresh. Then replace them with these Jessica Simpson Knit Mittens with Pom Poms. I mean, come on—they have pom poms! Did your grandma put pom poms on your mittens? Huh? Did she?! These are just too cute. They’re crocheted, just like grandma would make them. They’re also one hundred percent acrylic, so you can wash them. Just don’t throw them in the washer and dryer, though. Hand wash them, and let them dry flat to keep their shape. Does anyone else find it mildly amusing that you have to hand wash something that goes on your hands? Or am I just that easily amused? Wait, don’t answer that. I love these mittens in this bright fuchsia, but they’re available in eight other colors: black, brown, charcoal, navy, purple, rust, taupe, and white. Get a couple of pairs in your favorite colors because they’re on sale! Normally $38, you can get them right now for just $30.40 at Zappos.com.

You don’t have to spend a bundle to keep your hands toasty and looking good this winter. The Fossil Kendra Glove is budget friendly, and it goes beautifully with the puffy coat I talked about the other day. The wrists have a great cable knit detail, just like a comfy sweater, and they’re made from soft acrylic so they feel great against your hands. Oh, by the way, during the winter, remember to moisturize! This is a good all-over idea, but you especially need to moisturize your hands because they’re most often exposed to the dry winter air. This cannot be stressed enough. Before you even think about slipping these gloves on, the first layer you wear should be a great moisturizer. Then get these gloves for even more protection and warmth. If you’re worried about the white getting dirty too easily, the Kendra also comes in brown and red. And they’re also on sale! They were $32, now they’re only $25.60 at Zappos.com.
