Ugg Cozy II Slipper

I think UGG is the perfect name for the original furry suede boot that company came out with because they are some of the UGGliest shoes I’ve ever seen. Oh yeah, you heard me. I don’t care how many celebrities have worn them, or how big a fad they were—they’re hideous. I might have felt differently had people worn them in the way a furry suede boot should be worn—in fall or winter, with jeans or slacks. But no. People had to go and wear them with shorts. And yeah, celebrities too. But that just supports my theory that sometimes, celebrities wear the most outrageous, ugliest things just to see if they’ll catch on. It’s a total mind game with the public. How else do you explain this?! Too bad she was at Target. If she’d been at Wal-Mart, she might have gotten more publicity if she’d been featured here. But I digress. My point is, I don’t like UGGs. I don’t own any, I refuse to buy them, and I’ve always said I’ll never wear them. And then I saw the UGG Cozy II slipper.

Yes, I’m writing about slippers. What? They’re shoes. Ok, so you wouldn’t wear them out shopping. Well, Britney might, but if we all did what Britney does, we’d all be in padded rooms right now. Or jail. Or a trailer park. Anyway, as the weather gets colder, I like to wear warm, fuzzy slippers around the house to stay toasty. What, you thought I wore platform pumps all the time? Actually, that’s another thing I’ve never understood—high heeled slippers. I guess if you’re wearing something from Frederick’s of Hollywood, they make sense. But when I’m hanging out at home, relaxing, curled up with a good book or a movie, I like comfy jammies and slippers, and I doubt I’m the only one. So check out the Cozy II, the new and improved version of the previous just plain Cozy. It has a suede upper, which I love in this pastel pink. The sockliner is genuine sheepskin, and the natural material wicks moisture away to keep your feet dry and comfortable. A molded rubber outsole allows you to wear the slippers outside, but you’re only allowed to do that to run to the mailbox or take the dog out. No wearing them to the store! Seriously. Don’t. I will call the Fashion Police. I have them on speed dial. In addition to pink, it comes in black, chestnut (tan), espresso (dark brown), and ivory. Try the Cozy on for $94 at Zappos.com.

Now, if you want to really treat your feet to a supple, soft slipper, you need the Amy Jo Gladstone Cashmere Cable slipper. You read that right—it’s cashmere. Like slipping on a warm, fuzzy sweater, only you don’t have to worry about wearing the right kind of bra. Bonus! The clog-style slipper has a cable-knit cashmere upper in a pale green color called kiwi. The flexible footbed is covered in contrasting pink cashmere, and the vamp is adorned with a pink velvet bow. Under the cashmere is a trico and micro-terry lining to wick away moisture, while the footbed is made from memory foam for extra comfort with every step. A roomy toebox gives you plenty of wiggle room, too. The sole is suede, though, so no going outside in these. Best of all, they’re on sale, but hurry—there are only two pairs left! Normally $88.95, they’re just $40 right now at Endless.com.

Budget Saving Alternative 2

If, like me, you avoid UGGs on principle—or you just don’t want to spend almost 100 bucks on a pair of slippers—then you may be interested in the Tamarac Fluff Scuff slipper. It has a very similar look, from the suede upper, to the shearling lining. It has a .5-inch base all the way around, and eight millimeters of foam in the footbed to keep your feet cushioned and comfy. A man-made sole will also give you the freedom to step outside, but only if absolutely necessary! You just don’t want to start down that road. First, it’s going outside in slippers. Then you’re wearing a housecoat. Next, it’s hot rollers in your hair. Trust me. It’s not pretty. But you can stay completely comfortable at home in these babies, which are also on sale, and also come in blue and sand. They’re usually $39.95, but you can get them now for $21.97 at Endless.com.

I’m an Ugg wearer…I’m sorry. But have you seen their shoes and sandals? My favorite pair of Uggs are my blue driving loafers. THE BEST SHOE EVER!

LOL! Don’t be sorry! My main problem with them, as I said, is the original boot that people insist on wearing with shorts. What. The. Hell. And actually, I have seen their loafers, and they’re so cute! I may do a post on those later. For now, I’m loving these slippers! :-)
