I’ve made no secret of the fact that I am totally ready for spring to be here already. I’m not a fan of hot weather. Sweating is no one’s idea of attractive. Not that I know of, anyway. I guess there are people out there who find it alluring, although I find it difficult to imagine. I mean, sure, under the right circumstances, someone’s rippling muscles glistening with perspiration can be attractive, and even downright sexy. But just walking down the street or sitting at your desk? Not so much. So summer can hold off, as far as I’m concerned. But spring? Just the right combination of sunny days and cool breezes? Oh yeah, I’m all about that. If you read the blog with any regularity, you’re also aware of my penchant for the combination of hot pink and orange. It’s one of my favorite palettes, and lucky me! It’s one of the trends for spring. One of my Twitter buddies shared this with me, and I am totally in love! The majority of pink and orange is just gorgeous, and I love the turquoise and periwinkle (another of my favorite colors) thrown in. So I’ve decided to make this week all pink and orange on the blog. It’s one of the perks of having a blog—getting to do whatever you want with it. So let’s start with this Stuart Weitzman Manomoc Flat.
First, let me point out that I’m still pissed at Stuart Weitzman for that elephant hide flat he came out with. That’s just all kinds of wrong. What’s next, panda slippers? Get it together, Weitzman. Still, I can’t ignore it when he comes out with such cute shoes, as long as they’re made of leather and not endangered species. The Manomoc is just gorgeous in a perfect shade of orange. It’s a classic loafer design with moccasin detailing around the toe. I love the silver tone buckle adornment on the vamp, and if you look closely, you’ll see it’s accented by two translucent orange embellishments on either side. Just beautiful. The upper is made from soft leather, while the sole is constructed from sturdier leather. It all sits on a .75-inch heel. Of course, this orange—it’s actually called cantaloupe—is my favorite, but it also comes in black and tan. Try it out for $298 at Endless.com.
Budget Saving Alternatives
Another thing you know about me if you read this blog regularly is that I have a little designer crush on Kate Spade. While I admire and even own things by other designers, if I could afford to build my entire wardrobe out of Kate Spade items, I think I’d totally do it. Most of her designs are classically sophisticated, designed to stand the test of time, which is part of why I like them. But every once in a while, she comes out with something whimsical that just makes my heart flutter. This Fiona flat is one of those whimsies. It’s built to look like a ballet shoe with a squared, reinforced toe. It’s also made of satin, the way a real ballet shoe would be. The kicker is the embellishment on the vamp, which is made to look like a gift bow, and is also made of satin. I’ve never seen it on any other shoe, and I love it. The other thing is, I’ve never seen ballet shoes in hot pink or orange. The interior of the shoe is lined with orange leather—leather!—completing the color combination. The sole is leather, too, so with a little scuffing, you’re all set. The Fiona also comes in purple with red bow and interior. And you can’t beat this price for a pair of Kate Spade shoes—only $95 at Zappos.com.
The majority of Steve Madden shoes are a little on the esoteric side, but sometimes he surprises with a classic design, like this Kenedie Ornamented Loafer. What’s not classic is the color—deep fuchsia. The upper is soft suede, and it also has the moccasin-style stitching around the toe. By the way, moccasins are back, in case you hadn’t noticed. The footbed is lined with leather, and padded for comfort. Rather than going with a leather sole, the way most mocs do, the Kenedie has a flexible rubber sole, making it great for walking. Top it off with a simple gold tone chain adornment on the vamp, and you have a great shoe for spring. If the fuchsia isn’t your thing, it’s also available in a blue, and green. Hey, get two pairs—they’re on sale! Normally $79.95, the Kenedie is just $43.97 right now at Endless.com.

Why did I get excited just because you said orange and pink week. I love this color combo and loved those Kate Spade flats.
LOL! I know, girlie. Pink and orange does the same thing to me. Whew! I need a cool drink! Maybe a strawberry Margarita with an orange twist! ;-)
