Pour La Victoire Bethanie Caged Sandal

If you’ve been paying attention to the red carpet lately, you’ve no doubt been seeing a lot of caged sandals. Yup, that’s what they’re called. Caged. As if your feet were animals to be restrained. Well, maybe some women’s are, when they’ve gone too long between pedicures. If your heels can double as sandpaper, it’s time to make an appointment. But I digress. These sandals aren’t quite T-straps or gladiators, and they’re definitely not plain strappy sandals. They kick things up a notch with more straps, more height, and zippers, and this Pour La Victoire Bethanie caged sandal has it all.

Not only is it a beautiful example of the latest red carpet trend, it’s sure to stand out because of the metallic leather in pewter. This baby will definitely add some flash to your ensemble. In fact, with these on, all your other accessories can be understated and subtle. These make enough of a statement on their own. The back zip closure not only ensures a snug fit, it adds a bit of a dangerous feel to the shoe. In addition to the 100 percent leather upper, the lining is also leather, which will keep you comfortable. And even though the heel is four inches high, the one-inch platform adds stability and makes it feel like just three inches. Treat your feet for $275 at Piperlime.com.

Budget Saving Alternatives

Of course, you don’t have to break the bank to be in style. The Dolce Vita Celtic caged sandal is just as fun and flashy, with a little extra kick—the leather is embossed with a snake skin pattern, combining two trends in one kickass shoe. It also has a zip entry at the back of the heel, and leather lining, and the half-inch platform makes the four-inch heel a little less intimidating. I’m still digging the silver, but if you prefer, it also comes in black, and in a natural snake skin color and pattern. Get your vixen on for less, too. They were $178, but are now just $142.40 at Zappos.com.

I’m not sure how to feel about a sandal that’s categorized as caged and also has the word “bound” in its name. Is someone feeding a shoe fetish here? Whatever the case, the Luichiny Star Bound caged sandal epitomizes the style with its ultra-thin straps arranged in a criss-cross pattern. These would look great with a little black dress or slim leather pants. It’s pretty daring with a 4.5-inch heel and three-quarter-inch platform, and also boasts the zipper closure along the back of the heel. Along with the silver, it comes in a gorgeous bronze, and black. A couple of added touches are the lavender insole, and lavender sole with a large red heart imprinted on it. With details like that, you won’t even notice that it’s actually made from synthetic patent leather. That just makes it even more affordable, though. It’s usually $89.95, but you can get it right now for only $76.95 at Endless.com.
