For months now, I’ve been talking about my new found love of orange. I used to hate it, and now it seems like I can’t get enough of it. Looking back through previous posts, I realized that all the times I mentioned it, I was talking about handbags. To be honest, it hadn’t really occurred to me to look for orange shoes. I mean, come on. I love orange, but for shoes? Um, yeah, if I wanted to look like a clown! I admit, I lost my faith for a moment. I should have known that my Kate wouldn’t let me down. On a whim, I started looking around, and lo and behold, I found some gorgeous orange shoes! Not clown-like at all! My faith was restored! Hallelujah! What? Like you don’t take shoes that seriously? You’re reading my blog, aren’t you? That’s what I thought. So yeah, if you’re willing to take that leap of faith and slip on some creamy, dreamy orangey shoes, your first thought should be of the Kate Spade Genny Peep Toe Pump.
So we already know how fab the Genny is because of its gorgeous poppy hue. The other reason they’re so awesome? They’re suede. That, combined with the color, makes them a perfect fall shoe, even with the peep toe. Just make sure your pedi color doesn’t clash. Yeah, I know blues and greens are all the rage in nail color right now, but with orange peep toes? Blech. A nice nude, or light pink color would be best. Or, if you want to stand out, paint on a dark, bright pink. Orange and fuchsia is one of my favorite color combinations! The Genny has a couple more nice touches. First, there’s the curve suede heart accent at the top of the vamp. Then there’s the tonal stitching cascading down from that heart to the sole which you need to see up close to appreciate. The one-inch platform is hidden, and makes the 3.75-inch heel a little more comfortable. The leather lining will conform to your foot for extra comfort, and the leather sole will give a little traction once it’s broken in. Get a taste of this orangey goodness—or, if you prefer, black or eggplant—for $329 at Zappos.com.

This shoe looks like it’s all dressed up, doesn’t it? When I was balking at the thought of orange shoes, I didn’t consider pastels. The J. Renee Annika Two Piece Pump comes in this papaya color, a gorgeous light orange shade. To be honest, it may work better for spring or summer because of the light color, but I’m including it now anyway just because I like it. Besides, I’m not that much of a slave to fashion. I wear what I want, when I want to. That whole “don’t wear white after Labor Day” thing doesn’t apply anymore, so who says you can’t wear pastel colors in fall and winter? Whatever. That’s how trends get started, so be a trendsetter. The Annika is a D’Orsay style pump with a 3.5-inch heel. The upper is covered in pleated fabric, and a slim, metallic bow adorns the V-cut vamp. The leather sole will scuff up nicely. If you’re not crazy about the color, it also comes in bone with a leather bow, black with a patent bow, and a gorgeous gunmetal, also with a metallic leather bow. Best of all, it’s on sale. Usually $89.95, you can get it right now for just $81.18 at Endless.com.

Just like Kate never disappoints me, Anne Klein runs a close second in that department. Most of her designs are classic with a touch of contemporary, and the AK Anne Klein Christa is no exception. The Christa’s upper is covered in orange-red and black floral fabric. It almost looks like poppies. The slender three-inch heel is slightly curved for a feminine silhouette, and the instep side of the shoe is open for a little sexiness. The pointed toe adds to the classic look, and it has a lightly padded footbed for added comfort. If this floral print isn’t your thing, it comes in two other multi-colored floral print fabrics, a leopard print, a black and white paisley print, and a variety of leather colors as well. I have no doubt you can find one to fit your wardrobe and personality. The Christa will also fit your budget at just $68.95 from Zappos.com.
