Hollywould Clay

What would summer be without espadrilles? They’ve been around forever, but have gone through a lot of changes. They’re not just the closed-toe flats with wraparound ankle straps anymore. You can find them in just about any color, any heel height, closed-toe, open-toe, and on occasion, some really unique ones like this Hollywould Clay espadrille.

It’s laid back and casual like an espadrille should be, but it’s got a kick to it. The upper is covered with jeweled beads that were hand-sewn. The upper’s striped fabric also has a bit of shine to it. These are not shoes for the shy. The heel is covered with natural, braided jute, and is 3.5 inches high, the platform .75 inches high. Its padded insole will keep you comfortable. Originally $234.95, they’re now just $107 at Endless.com.

Budget Saving Alternatives

Looking for a shoe that can be casual by day and transition into an island night? The Matisse Gypsy espadrille is the way to go. The man-made upper is woven, with a subtle string of silver sequins braided through it. It’s topped with beautifully clear stones. The turquoise color is reminiscent of sea glass or clear ocean water, and it also comes in black and tan. Note that the black has the clear stones, but not the braid of sequins, and the sequins on the tan shoe are gold. The lightly padded footbed and rubber sole make for sure footing, even on the four-inch heel. Get bejeweled for $68.95 at Zappos.com.

If you prefer to keep your jewelry on your body rather than your shoes, opt for a simpler style with Jessica Simpson’s Daria slide espadrille. The 2.75 inch heel is covered with braided rope for a bit of the traditional espadrille look. The red combo fabric has a fun, multi-colored pattern, and is knotted at the vamp. It’s also available in a blue combo, which is a floral print fabric, as well as neon blue and kelly green, both in leather. Grab a couple of pairs for the summer. They were $68.95, but are on sale right now for $31 at Endless.com.
