Giuseppe Zanotti Open Toe Pump

I’m on a bit of a “shoes as art” kick lately. The more I cruise around the internet, the more interesting and unusual styles and colors I find. Take these Giuseppe Zanotti E96130 Open Toe Pump. And yes, it still annoys me that he uses alphanumerics to identify his shoes. Something so beautiful needs an imaginative, descriptive name. Especially these. I think if Jackson Pollock had ever designed shoes, they’d look something like this.

The name not withstanding, this is a great shoe. I love the combination of complementary colors, and the way they look like brush strokes and paint splatter. The upper is a combination of abstract print fabric and black patent leather, which sits on a tapered 4.5 inch patent heel, and a .5 inch platform. The lining and sole are leather, and it comes with a dust bag. Beauty doesn’t come cheap, but it can be on sale. The shoes normally go for $649.95, but are currently on sale for $420.41 at Endless.com.

Budget Saving Alternatives

Speaking of cool color combinations, I never would have thought I’d like khaki shoes, but put that color together with pink and a bit of blue, and it becomes a neutral and pretty palette. The Martinez Valero Whisper is a beautiful open toe pump with a classic shape. This multi-colored upper is made of soft fabric, but it’s also available in mesh or sequined. The sole is leather, and the heel is covered to match the khaki background. The footbed is lightly padded, which is nice on a 3.5 inch heel. Usually $149, they can be yours right now for $114 at Zappos.com.

Now, I didn’t go looking for more khaki shoes, I just sort of ran across them. Mostly, I just love the paisley pattern. I don’t even care whether it’s in or not—I’m a sucker for paisley. Anyway, between Zanotti’s alphanumeric designations and this Unlisted shoe being called “I’m Spending,” I’ll take the letters and numbers. I don’t know what Kenneth Cole was thinking. Regardless, it’s a gorgeous peep toe pump. The upper is fabric with a feminine bow on the vamp. Between the lightly padded footbed and the cork platform and heel, walking on the 3.5 inch heel should be a breeze—lots of impact absorption. They’re too good to pass up for just $51 at Zappos.com.
