Dolce and Gabbana -Miss Pocket Large- Double Tote

When it comes to handbags, a girl can never have too many. However, a snakeskin-esque look is something I hope to never see again on a handbag, even if it is Dolce and Gabbana. I’m not complaining about the shape and style of this bag – in fact, it’s big enough to be an overnighter if you so wish – but the stamped leather just doesn’t do it for me.

However, I have to say, I love the thin buckled straps and the double-handles for when you can’t balance it on your shoulder while you’re running through an airport (that happened to me a month ago). I also love the two exterior zip pockets and the interior cell phone pocket, which means that I won’t be scrabbling through my purse, throwing out all sorts of items, trying to find my ringing phone in the depthless black that is the interior of my bag. I also quite enjoy the luggage tag that proudly proclaims that I am, indeed, carrying Dolce and Gabbana. However, I am one of those people who believe that if you pay for the name, you should be able to show it off proudly. I actually do like it when people ask me who my bag or shoes were made by.

Okay, stamped leather aside, I love the color of this bag. A pewter brownish-grey is not something you see often when it comes to handbags, and the good thing is, the patent leather picks up the light and reflects it back so that you can’t tell if the bag is brown or grey. I’d carry this bag with a suit, blazer or anything trendy. Dolce and Gabbana pretty much demands it. If you’re interested in this bag, you can find it for $2,195.00 at Nordstrom.com. What’s that echo? Why, I think it’s the sound of my empty bank account!

I went scouting for a couple of cheaper bags after the heart attack induced by the price of the D and G and I found a slightly smaller number by Bally. The Rachel/06 is 19 inches by 7 ½ inches deep by 11 inches high, and has dual shoulder straps and a pair of double handles for quick carrying. It’s got quilted leather, but I accept that over fake snakeskin any day. The bag is priced at almost $1000 less than the Dolce and Gabbana, but you’d better get ready to break out your platinum, because it’s still $1198.95. I found this bag at Zappos.com.

If you’re looking for a cheaper deal, you could try the Elliot Lucca Estella large tote, which is $368.00 at Endless.com.
