Corto Moltedo Priscilla Purse

I’m a little confused and sickened when I look at this Corto Moltedo Priscilla purse. For instance, the distressed denim-inspired pale blue leather, the side zipper pockets that sort of resemble saddle bags, and the woven leather rope handle with tassels really call to mind a cowgirl western design. However, then we get to the beige insignia fabric strip down the center, and I’m left thinking, “What’s up, cowgirl?” Maybe Corto Moltedo wasn’t quite sure when he designed this bag. Did he want spaghetti western or classic signature haute couture? Either way, he does neither well, and this bag ends up looking like a mish mash of clashing design elements. Kind of like Carrie Bradshaw when she pairs a fun and flirty Betsey Johnson tank with a pair of tighty whities in Sex and the City. The two just don’t belong together, girl!

The only saving grace for me is the purse’s handle. It sort of resembles a rancher’s woven whip, and there is some definite fun behind it I’m sure. But the fact that this purse comes with a long shoulder strap kind of horsewhips all the fun out of the design. Bottom line: In my mind the terms haute and cowgirl shall never be one. Again, dark denim-inspired, but slightly less confused is this Kathy Van Zeeland High Gloss Cross Body Handbag. The exterior is crinkle-textured faux leather that has a subtle sheen that almost looks like the bag has been coated with glitter. The interior is also faux leather, and has a back wall zip pocket. On the outside is a ruched front pocket, and a removable charm chain. The top zips closed to keep everything where it’s supposed to be. All the hardware is matte silver tone. This denim Dolce Girl Doodle Denim Hearts Hobo finally gets fun down pat with multi-colored hearts, and chain detailing on the dual handles. The exterior is fabric, and the hearts are embroidered. Inside, it’s fully lined with a back wall zip pocket. The handles are also covered with the same fabric. The top zips closed, keeping everything safe and secure.
