Juicy Couture Buffalo Check Wrap With Fringe

Talking about those satin-wrapped Emilio Pucci pumps the other day got me thinking about wraps and scarves. Not only are they fun to wear, and great accessories because they’re so easy to color-coordinate with any outfit, they make great gifts. Let’s not pretend we don’t know what Friday is. Come on, say it with me—Black Friday. Just the fact that it’s come be known as a “black” day should tell you something, namely that you don’t want to be out in all the craziness. I mean, seriously, people getting trampled at Wal-Mart over big screen TVs and those tins that have three kinds of popcorn in them? Ridiculous. Now, a fight to get into Neiman Marcus or Chanel? That I can understand. Still, there’s this new thing out, maybe you’ve heard of it? It’s called the Internet. I know, it sounds all science fictiony and technical, but don’t let that scare you! The Internet is a wondrous place where you can find just about anything you want and even…wait for it…buy it. Yes, that’s right! You can shop on the Internet! Call CNN! Ok, yeah, I’m being facetious, unlike the tweet I saw the other day from someone with the word “makeover” in their Twitter ID that said if your skin is dry, you should put moisturizer on it. Really? No! Moisturizer for dry skin?! Give that tweeter a Nobel Prize! They figured out the secret to combating dry skin. Please. Anyway, my point is, you don’t have to go out and risk being trampled by one of these people just to get nice gifts and good prices. You can find it all right here. And like I said, scarves make great gifts. Gee, my neck is kinda chilly. Hint, hint! I sure could use this Juicy Couture Buffalo Check Wrap With Fringe!

Not falling for it, huh? Fine. I’ll tell you about it anyway. It’s nice. What, you want more? Jeez, you guys are demanding! Ok, ok, sit back and let me do all the work, as usual. The Juicy Buffalo Check wrap (with fringe!) is made from one hundred percent Merino wool, so you know it’ll be nice and soft against your neck. It will also help hide those nasty vampire bites you might get if you’re a little too into Twilight. Oh yeah, I went there. Look, I liked Harry Potter as much as the next Muggle, but this whole Twilight thing has just gotten way out of hand. Do you know there’s a jewelry line?! If I see anyone over the age of 13 wearing any of that crap, we are going to have words. Anyway, the wrap. It’s a pretty plaid pattern, in shades of pink, with the Juicy crown detail scattered here and there. At 82 inches long, you can let it hang loose, or wrap up in it to stay nice and toasty. Plan on the extra expense of having it dry cleaned. Wash that wool, and you’ll have a nice scarf for your Barbie, which I’m assuming you still play with if you’re into Twilight. Check out this check wrap for $179 at Zappos.com.

Budget Saving Alternatives

Now, this Galliano scarf isn’t really to be worn for warmth. It’s made from one hundred percent silk, and although that’s a great natural fabric for layering and wicking moisture away from your body, it’s not going to be as warm as a wool scarf. But look at it. It’s gorgeous. I love the way the colors blend together, without definite borders. It looks like a watercolor painting. And the colors are beautiful, translucent greens and blues, reminiscent of Caribbean waters. Wear it and imagine yourself in a warmer climate, walking on a beach. I think that would be an awesome vacation, actually—an island at Christmas. One of these days. Anyway, there is one thing I don’t like about this scarf: the logo printed at one end. I mean, does it have to be so big? Sheesh. Couldn’t Galliano just be like most other designers and have a little fabric brand tag attached to one end? No, they had to print it on the scarf in huge letters. I’m thinking it could be obscured depending on how you wrap it around your neck. Or maybe it won’t bother you. Either way, there is another advantage to this Galliano scarf—it’s on sale. Normally $189, it’s only $109 right now at Zappos.com.

As much as I love pink, this wrap is my favorite of the bunch. The Love Quotes Hand Knotted Fringe Wrap is made from fine Italian linen, and viscose. Again, it’s great for layering. It’s also very soft and lightweight so you won’t feel strangled by a big, heavy scarf knotted at your neck. It’s 74 inches long, which offers a lot of options for wearing, from actually knotting it, to just letting it drape loosely around your neck. Double it up, and you could even wear it as a bohemian belt, if you like. Why is the brand Love Quotes? Because the hang tag on each scarf features an inspirational love quote on it, so you can carry a positive message with you all day. I seriously doubt if they have any that say “Team Edward” on them, though, so don’t get your hopes up. What is very cool about this scarf, though, is that the company donates 10 percent of all proceeds to various international children’s charities. It’s that time of year when we try to help others, so consider buying this scarf not only as a fabulous gift, but to support a great charity. Ok, that’s not enough reason? How ’bout this? The scarf comes in 50 other colors. You heard me. Fifty. This one is called mallard, and costs $90 at Zappos.com. Prices vary by color, though, so double check how much your favorite costs so you don’t come back here complaining to me that $90 was the wrong price.

Now, you may not be inclined to buy something that’s going to donate part of its proceeds to kids’ charities. You might be thinking, “Why should I do that? Those kids are probably just going to spend that money on Twilight jewelry!” Yeah, once they get hooked, it’s hard to wean them off that stuff. Or maybe you need a gift for a frenemy, and you don’t want to spend that much on her. I can relate. But it’s ok, because Roxy has the So Beautiful scarf and despite its lower price, it really is quite pretty. Again, I love how the colors blend together, and although this one looks like orange and red, it’s actually orange and fuchsia. The color just becomes more intense when it’s bunched together. You have to see it up close to appreciate the hues. And you know orange and hot pink is one of my favorite color combinations. The edge is fringed, and there’s a tiny embroidered detail at one end of the scarf. The So Beautiful is also available in a pink and red floral print, and a hideous stripe print called shitake. Indeed. Get it for just $30 at Zappos.com.
