I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’ve been avoiding those shoes that can’t decide whether they’re pumps, sandals, or booties. All the ones I’ve seen have been just hideous, and I couldn’t bring myself to jump on that particular bandwagon. They just look so bulky to me. I’ve seen celebs on the red carpet in beautiful, feminine dresses, and then these huge things on their feet that look like someone’s attempt to dress up a cast shoe. Hey, that’s not a bad idea. You’ve seen those ugly blue canvas things people wear over foot casts, right? Why not make some in other colors and patterns? Add some embellishments here and there, and voila! Designer cast shoes! For months now, I’ve been talking about my new found love of orange. I used to hate it, and now it seems like I can’t get enough of it. Looking back through previous posts, I realized that all the times I mentioned it, I was talking about handbags. To be honest, it hadn’t really occurred to me to look for orange shoes. I love shoes. I think I’ve made that pretty clear with this blog. I love almost all colors, almost all styles. I really love finding something unusual. Not unusual weird, like I wouldn’t be seen in public wearing it. Unusual as in not the norm. Not boring. Different. Colors you wouldn’t think to put together. Textures that seem to contradict each other. Different styles meeting somewhere in the middle to create a unique style with classic elements. And there are designers out there who just nail it. Some of them, I don’t know whom they’re designing for, or if they’ve made some sort of bet with someone to design the most hideous thing possible and see if anyone will actually wear it.
